Hello, I’m Amanda

Amanda Lennon is an award-winning, multilingual (Dutch, German and French) senior HR consultant and employment lawyer with a passion for great employee experience and culture.

Amanda has worked at Board level for some notable brands such as British Airways, BT, Barclays, Equinix, Menzies Aviation and Mitie during her corporate career as an HR director and solicitor. Her time spent in legal practice has given her an excellent grounding in the legal issues that underpin HR matters in the workplace. This complements Amanda’s HR career, where she has gained significant experience of running a business, making and executing strategic decisions and implementing initiatives that drive employee engagement.

These roles have given Amanda international expertise in HR and related businesses strategies, employee and industrial relations matters, change and transformation, crisis management (such as the COVID19 pandemic and continuity planning), business turnaround, organisational design and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, TUPE/outsourcing, employee engagement, leadership and development, and employment law. Indeed her work with one particular employer increased employee engagement by 25% and secured the company 50th place in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies To Work For 2019, as a first time entrant.

Amanda advises businesses across several sectors in the UK and internationally, from large corporates to start ups, SMEs and not for profit organisations, using a variety of business models. She is a motivational, empathetic leader, coach and trusted advisor who enjoys leading high performing teams and supporting people in achieving their potential.

Having been made redundant from her last corporate role in February 2020, Amanda is now a self-employed HR consultant undertaking interim and project assignments for larger businesses as well as HR consultancy for small and medium sized employers. She is also a Partner at Spencer West Solicitors specialising in employment law, which she practises alongside Astralis HR Solutions, her HR consulting business. This enables Amanda to seamlessly advise clients when they require legal advice on employment law matters, as opposed to pure HR solutions.

An expert in employee rights, Amanda’s work also includes advising employees on HR matters impacting their employment. She has been a frequent commentator in this area during the COVID19 pandemic and regular appears as an employment rights expert on the ITV lunchtime news and This Morning show.

Amanda takes a progressive, commercial and hands on approach to her work, is results-focused and loves working in fast-paced environments. Treating people fairly and doing the right thing are extremely important to Amanda, as is being pragmatic and practical when resolving problems.

Outside of work, Amanda has provided pro bono HR advice to Veterans Aid for over 10 years, is a member of the Finance Committee at her local church and has experience as a school governor and trustee of a children’s charity in the care sector.

Amanda is a proud mum of 3 children and enjoys learning new languages, travel and taking part in endurance events such as Tough Mudder.
